Invisalign® at Park Place Dental

Invisalign® is a great choice for our patients who are searching for a more discreet orthodontic treatment option. Rather than using metal brackets and wires like traditional braces, the Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made, computer-generated plastic aligners to straighten your smile.

Each set of aligners is designed to make small changes to the alignment of the teeth. As you switch sets of aligners about every one to two weeks, your teeth will be gradually, gently guided to their proper positions. You will also visit our office on a regular basis during treatment to make certain that your smile is progressing as planned.

Ideal Candidates For Invisalign®

In general, Invisalign can be used to treat the same orthodontic issues that are normally treated with braces. Our orthodontist may recommend Invisalign to correct:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Gapped and spaced teeth

Certain problems with the bite, such as an overbite, open bite, underbite, or crossbite

During your initial visit, we will determine whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign. This treatment is often a good choice for adult patients and others who are interested in a virtually invisible orthodontic treatment. In addition to being discreet, Invisalign aligners are also very comfortable because they are custom made from smooth, thin plastic. The aligners are removable as well, which allows you to easily remove them as needed in order to eat, brush, and floss. We welcome you to call or visit us today to learn more about Invisalign.

FAQs About Invisalign

  • Are Clear Aligners for me?

Clear Aligners are an aesthetically pleasing alternative to braces, especially for minor tooth movements that improve your smile. Specifically, they are for use with teens and adults, from simple cases such as: crowded teeth, spaces and over/underbites. Dr. Vanaki can assess your needs and recommend the best treatment plan for you.

  • Why should I choose Clear Aligners?

Choose Clear Aligners for 3 main reasons:

    1. Your Confidence – In partnership with SureSmile experts, Dr. Vanaki delivers your ideal smile with state-of-the-art, tailor-made aligners, individually quality checked by clinical lab specialists

    2. Your Comfort – With precision-made fit, you can easily wear our aligners comfortably throughout the day

    3. Your Convenience – Minimize your time in the dental chair with fewer in-office appointments and shorter check-ups

  • Can I eat and drink with Clear Aligners?

As a rule of thumb, remove your aligners to eat meals or snacks, drink liquids or chew gum. This helps keep them virtually invisible, retains their fit and helps reduce the risk of tooth decay.

Do not wear aligners when drinking hot, sweet or colored liquids, like red wine. Hot liquids like coffee or soup can result in melted or distorted aligners.

One exception – you can leave your Clear aligners in to drink plain, unflavored, non-sugared cool water.

After eating or drinking, always brush your teeth before putting your clean aligners back in place.

  • How long will my Clear Aligner treatment last?

Since each person’s treatment plan is different, it’s hard to generalize how long your unique case may take. Treatment generally lasts anywhere from 6 to 18 months.

    What to expect:

On average, plan on about 2-4 weeks from your initial scanning appointment to wearing your first aligners, depending on how quickly the aligners are custom built and when your follow-up appointment is available.

Expect to wear each set of aligners for two weeks, as prescribed by Dr. Vanaki.

The office will schedule your office visits which will vary depending upon the complexity of your case. Quite often you can expect to visit every 1-3 months. You may schedule short dental visits approximately every four weeks to check progress and pick up the next two sets of aligners.

When you start wearing each new set of aligners, you can experience a snugger fit for a few days, which is normal.

Retainers will be prescribed once your treatment plan is complete.

  • Can you use clear aligners if you have veneers or crowns?

This should be determined on a case by case basis by Dr.Vanaki. No two treatment cases are ever the same; however, digital lab specialists are available to work with Dr. Vanaki determine the best course of care through our technology capabilities and custom plastic appliances to find the best solution for unique treatment cases.
